Andrzej Michael Karwacki's abstract paintings are explorations of color, texture, and imagination. With a background in mathematics and landscape architecture, Andrzej sees abstract painting as an open visual language where one can let go of learned structures and bring experience to seeing and making.

Instead of relying on rigid systems of logic, Andrzej uses perception and sensory to guide his painting process. Incorporating a vibrant palette, earthy textures and repeated forms, the paintings are inspired by his vision of beauty and intuition.

Born in Poland, Andrzej lived in the neighborhood of a 12th Century castle and was surrounded by the beauty of open parks and nature as a child. He moved to the East Coast in 1984 and received a BFA in painting at the School for the Arts at Jersey City State University and a Masters in Landscape Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Living in the Bay Area since 1994, Andrzej has a broad creative practice - he is a freelance designer, illustrator, landscape architect and teacher.
